what they mean is that it doesn’t represent anything. ie when you look at it, it doesn’t make you think of any emotion or subject. it is completely neutral which is why it is the best typeface in the world!
i dont really get the movie though…
Yeah…
So you are saying that by ‘SHOULD have no meaning creates meaning – then this new meaning is to not have meaning’?
Just go with it >.>
“It should not have a meaning in itself” – well – if it SHOULD have no meaning, THEN that IS meaning. Bugger,,,
you graphic designers are nothing more than pawns of the corporate fatcats to brainwash our minds and make us buy products we dont even need.
I am a highly awarded member of the creative class. As a branding consultant, I am conflicted by my work. I spend the better portion of my day fostering corporate clients whose aim is to visually proliferate every aspect of your life. These companies are driven by market share and have a low regard for consumers beyond their ability to purchase product.
A música é tão limpa e instigante.
I love Paula Scher, “Helvetica, during my generation …. it was like the font that represented the Viet Nam War.”
Interviewer: “If Helvetica was the font for the Viet Nam War …. what would be the font for the war today?”
Paula: The Iraq War?
Interviewer: Yes
Paula: Helvetica
WTG Paula …. I love you!
great movie amazing designers appear on it
Great movie, check it out!

i really enjoyed the music in this video
It is El Ten Eleven, and the song is Central Nervous Piston, from their self titled album.
I’m not sure, but here is a list of the music from the film’s soundtrack it might be one of these bands:
Music:
The Album Leaf
Battles
Caribou
Chicago Underground Quartet
El Ten Eleven
Four Tet
Kim Hiorthøy
Motohiro Nakashima
Sam Prekop
what’s the first song on this trailer?(played until 1:21)
Have you paid any attention to communication, and the % of how often this font has been used over the past 15 years?
I do not see what is hollow about designers enjoing and sharing their eye for detail, and what this type has brought to designs all over the world.
how wonderful.
The objective materialization of something that is so meaningless and subjective. they assume a font-type will mean anything about a society underneath it’s image.
So what does Helvetica define? what defines Helvetica? What significant benefits will it bring which all the hype materializes it out to be?
hollow culture.
i like this move i learen a lot from it
thnx
